Hart's Craft Fair

   Some quick shots of my TreeCookies display, at the fair last Sunday. I wish I took more photos, but had lots of fun. Hart's Fabric is quite an amazing fabric store. So happy they decided to throw this little fair in the parking lot, and will have to go back (to shop) sometime, real soon.

late night crafting

   My BF was representing his school at a music production conference last weekend, and was looking for some of the old business cards I had made him, awhile back. I wanted to update his info, so I offered to make him new cards. It took a little longer, than expected, but this is what I made.

   I used my handy customizable stamp set and knew I wanted to incorporate a stamp from my collection, as well. It took me a minute or two because I thought it would be cool to use one of my hand carved blocks. They were just way too "cutesy." Then, I knew exactly which one to use. 
   BF and I are based out of the SF Bay Area, so I thought the (Golden Gate) Bridge would be perfect. And, it was! I can''t recommend Yellow Owl Workshop, enough. See here, here and here. I love all their awesome products. I am only half way through Print Workshop, and have a ton of bookmarked projects, already. If you haven't seen the book, or any of the projects circulating the internet, you gotta check it out. Not only is there tons of amazing DIY's, but the book is extremely informative. Especially for someone like me, who loves printing by hand.
   The Bridge adds a nice touch, to the cards, and works well since we are also big SF Giants fans.

   Hi, everyone! OMG-this is an un-posted post, I wrote on March 9, 2009.

   I titled it, "my February stamp suite".. One of my first BIG card projects. Japanese pop art was the inspiration for the cute girl and having a cute saying. That last shot has been my blog banner since I started helloTreecookies. It's almost time to change it up.
   Oh, finished up a business plan, and printed with a cute tree stamp (see here.) I feel really motivated. Ready, and busy..in a great way of course! My January was rejuvenating. How was yours?

Wow-did this holiday season fly. I'm glad today is going slower than usual. It is Christmas after all.

I didn't have the right ribbon color for my first gift, so I went straight for my big bag-o-yarn! And used pieces throughout the season. Noel gift tags from Eat Drink Chic and some cute Camilla Engman tags, all free to download.

happy birthday, sis

   My kid sister (who isn't really a kid, but I call her that anyways) turned 21 over the weekend. Although, I'm treating her to breakfast, shopping and a sewing class, here, in a couple weeks.. doesn't mean I can get away without making a few little TreeCookies, too. I played with this paper doll kit, and made a "mini Theresa", and then had the BEST idea! Who is one of her favorites?

Totoro! All I did, was trace an image from the web, transfer it to colored card stock and cut, cut, cut and glue away. I had so much fun making him, parading him around my desk for little bit, until it was time to go in the envelope. Along with a Marvy LePen (which are just lovely and oh so colorful.)

I couldn't forget the leaf. Paper Totoro says, "Have a great week!" Maybe, you can try to make your own paper creatures, too? The end result can be quite satisfying.

I made some thank you cards, for some great people who helped celebrate my birthday with me. The Golden Gate Bridge and home stamp is a set from Yellow Owl Workshop (whom I just adore. See here and here.) I picked it up as my souvenir at DeYoung. I also used one of my carved heart blocks and a stamp kit I got at the local office store. Love the orange. Go Giants!

I wasn't always the best of friends with my mom.. Like during those awkward "teenage years." Now, I understand a little bit more about `em. Hoping to one day be one, myself <3 It's an incredible feeling to know a few new moms. The amount of love and strength that grows each day. It's just so beautiful! Happy Mother's Day.

What I've been up to, lately-

With the country's current economy, work load (at my day job) has been dwindling... It's kind of a good thing. With a bit more time in my hands, I've been given the chance to work on things I'm a little more passionate about. Remember this post? Well... I'm gonna do it! The goal is to get my lil Etsy shoppe up and running by the end of June 2010, introducing a line of paper goods. Making things is the best! And I couldn't be happier.

And below is a birthday card I made for a new friend. The card starring one of these awesome stamp sets, from Studio Violet. I messed up a little on Manager Kattas face, stamping it too light. So I decided to stamp it over again. I LOVED how awesomely 3D it looked, and did it for Mr. Mustache, too. Oh, mistakes can be grand!

P.S. The office is in a different room, with walls, now. Have a lovely weekend! I think BF and I are gonna try and check out Iron Man 2.

Take a stand.

Earlier this week, I awoke with the yearning for... .an awesome cake stand. My love for cooking ( and all things kitchenware ) has led me here. I think it is a definite necessity in my home, and hope to, one day, stumble upon the ultimate vintage find. For now, I've found a few great D.I.Y.'s. The latter, of the three, being my most favourite! Afterall, I do <3 trees.

The possibilities are endless, and a cake stand always adds a bit of "oooh and awww" at little gatherings. But who even needs the party? Just shrink it down to a saucer size, for the ever so beautiful "single cupcake stand". I'm in love with this one, I spotted over at Etsy. .by WhitneySmith. The color is very eye pleasing. "thou shalt eat cake!"

Just couldn't help, but share, the latest oncewed d.i.y., by Anna Bond (of Rifle Design). What a fabulous twist on the ever-so-popular pom pom. Anna rocks!

I love this escort card idea, by the great Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co. Maybe, putting random things on the other end (other than just carrots). The first thing i thought of was a tire? I don't know why. Get the complete How-To.. .here.. .at OnceWed.

Oh, do I love to make birthday stationery.

The latest was a simple concept. sunburst design (on cut chipboard) ... made with a 1/8th punch and 1 inch punch, and some good adhesive.

Lisa`s Bridal Shower giftwrap= the awesome Domino Book of Decorating, paper shopping bag (cut down the side.. so its flat), some favorite rubber stamps (from Yellow Owl) & an inkpad, scissors & double-sided tape.

I flipped the paper bag over, and stamped on the blank side.
Wrapping gifts is one the little pleasures I love in life.

a deer friend

I love giving note sets & stationery as gifts. Especially, jazzing them up. In this case, something, so simple, as a little deer doodle. Hmm, deer doodle? That sounds funny, but you know what I mean. .an outline. 

I drew my little deer on some leftover card stock, so I had a stencil. Traced the stencil on some decorative paper (from my scrap paper stash). .Cut them out.. and voila! Then, I ran the deer through my handy little sticker maker. Glue sticks are great for kids, but I needed some extra reinforcement, that the mini xyron (sticker maker) provides. An adhesive eraser helps get rid of the sticky gunk around the sticker. and, again, with the .. voila!

Tied some twine around the cards, and threw `em in a handmade envelope, along with a stamped birthday card. 

Oh, did this little set inspire so many more ideas! You'll see My Little Deer, again, soon.

jealous?

Last week: "Turn around, I'm ordering your Christmas present (online)"- BF, ruben. I had no idea what he was getting me. 2 days ago: The shipped box lay on my laptop. "Should I wait until Christmas to open it?"... "Oh, what the hell!" Three cloth wrapped ..things ( I didn't know what), labeled seascape, landscape and winterscape. As I shook the parcel, I knew immediately. "..all three of them!?" 

These are so beautiful! Thanks to the Curiosity Shoppe.. where I first fell in love with yellow owl workshop. think about good people, simple things in life.. don't let stress get to you, especially this time of year. i heart my jigah, ruben.

i hope

Currently, I am working on a couple of gocco prints..finishing touches on some sketches. Really excited about my new work area. Almost ready to print! I can take a long time creating and making. Which is why I'm proud of my work, 100%.
I hope to post some stationery and notebooks (4-sale on etsy.com) by spring of '09.. I am also putting together some jewelry, which I haven't been working on, in awhile. I really want the shoppe to be successful, which is why its gonna take a little longer. All hand-made by me, Jonahliza.
